Alpha Repartition is a wholesale trader and distributor of pharmaceutical products. Its clients mainly consist of independent pharmacies in Brussels and Wallonia. The company operates from four sites in this area. All of these sites have specific requirements regarding certain routes, knowledge of the local market etcetera. For the time being, WinRoute has been installed at the company’s site in Liège. The intention is to implement the program for each site separately, exactly because of the specific needs of each site.
An in-depth analysis of the company’s general costs showed that transport was responsible for an enormous share of the costs. That is why Alpha Répartition decided to optimise its distribution routes. Before the reorganisation, five distribution rounds per day were necessary in order to serve every client. Although the pharmaceutical market is characterised by a lot of competition and a strong emotional aspect, the company decided to implement WinRoute in order to reorganise these distribution routes. According to comparative tests, WinRoute proved to be the only software that could take into account the necessary constraints (delivery times, deliveries with priority, prerequisites of the pharmacies, etc.).
Since the implementation of WinRoute, the logistic costs have diminished significantly. Now only three instead of five distribution rounds per day are now necessary but also less time and effort are needed for the planning process itself.
